Activities from Week 8.6.2020 ECO WEEK
Hello boys and girls,
How are we all this week? The weather as not been so good this week has it! Never mind, there is always plenty we can do to keep busy. I hope you enjoyed last week’s activities. I am looking forward to getting more of your photos and seeing some of your work this week.
I’m sure you’ve been hearing at home or on the TV that school will be opening soon. Yes it is true and I am extremely excited to be able to see you again soon, but it is not going to be for a few more weeks and when we can return it will not be how we remember from before lockdown. Some changes will need to be made so as to keep everybody safe and well. So for now keep working hard at home and being good for your families and we will let you know what will be happening as soon as possible.

If we had been in school this week we would have stopped our normal lessons to take part in ECO WEEK. So I thought – Why not do Eco Week at home instead?? Here are lots of ideas for you to choose from…
Activity 1: Use recycling and junk materials to make your own pirate ship.
Look around the house and check in the recycling box to look for junk materials you can use to make your own pirate ship. (Make sure you check with a grown up if it is okay to use!) By using recycling and junk materials we are reusing them and putting old things to a new use. Don’t forget to take photographs to share your creations with me and your friends.
Activity 2: Make a bug hotel.
See the file for some ideas for making a bug hotel from Young People’s Trust for the Environment.
Activity 3: Go on a minibeast hunt
Spring is turning into Summer and the warmer weather will bring lots of creepy crawlies out. So get out in the fresh air and take a closer look outside. You'll soon notice it's teeming with wildlife! Can you find...
- a worm after a shower of rain
- a bumblebee looking for nectar
- a spotty ladybird exploring the grass
- a slimy snail in a dark damp spot
- a butterfly basking in the sunshine?
Activity 4: Make a loo roll bird feeder
Activity 5: Go on a Rubbish Walk!
Share the Plastic in the Environment PowerPoint.
Next time you go out for a walk take a bag, wear gloves and a grabber (if you have one) as you enjoy your walk collect any rubbish that is spoiling the environment and help to make the world a better place.
Activity 6: Save Energy!
Share the Save Energy Poster, discuss the ideas given and which you do or could do in your own home.
Design your own Save Energy poster to encourage others to help the environment.
